Plymouth x Modeset

Modeset must be enabled by default before run Xorg in some videocards, because Plymouth do not like modeset it necessary boot without it. If you found issues running the system disable Plymouth by removing splash cheatcode and enabled modeset by removing nomodeset, you just need to select the graphical menu boot item, press TAB, remove splash and nomodeset words, or boot using debug mode. In my EeePC I was only able to start X with modeset enabled and without Plymouth so far. I would like to receive suggestions to solve this issue and I will upgrade Plymouth as soon as possible.
Modeset precisa ser habilitado por padrão antes de entrar no ambiente gráfico em algumas placas de vídeo, e porque o Plymouth não tem se dado bem com modeset é preciso desabilitá-lo antes de iniciar o sistema. Se algum problema for encontrado para rodar o Xorg desabilite o Plymouth removendo a linha splash e habilite o modeset removendo a linha nomodeset dos parâmetros de boot, basta selecionar o modo de boot gráfico, pressionar TAB e remover splash e modeset ou usar o modo debug. Em meu EeePC só fui capaz de rodar o X com modeset habilitado e Plymouth desabilitado. Qualquer sugestão é bem-vinda para resolvermos este problema.

OK, after deleting ’splash’ and ‘nomodeset’ from the boot stanza, live cd booted into X Window on ThinkPad R51 with Intel 855GME. One little thing, Thunar wants to know how to open text files. based-version in /etc says Slackware 13.0.0.0.0.

I’ll test Thunar and add Mousepad as main text editor. Thanks about Slackware version is is 13.1 or current. That mail message is from Slackware, too. I’ll see if we need to add a mail program.

Hi, tried the en CD. It boots on a couple of generic desktops; Duron 900 with early 2k nv card, and P4 1.6GHz with Matrox G550. Won’t do X Window on R51 ThinkPad with Intel 855GM video. Boots in text mode but trying to run X gives ‘no kernel modesetting driver detected’ ‘no screens found’. xorgsetup run at prompt in text mode gives same result.
By the way, when booting as root, system says you have mail – but there is no ‘mail’, that is no mail programme as far as I can see. Typing mail gives command not found, and I cdnt see anything else like mutt or pine.
